NUNC DIMITTIS
STIRLING MOSS ! - her son-in-law called her, reflecting her enthusiasm for driving a highly polished red Mini about town. And she could drive a needle, too. Our parish church is proud of the 49, yes, forty-nine, kneelers that this energetic lady worked, in tapestry and in love. A devoted wife, widowed, 39 years ago today, a loving mother, mother-in-law, and proud, knitting, grandmother. A gardener, flower arranger, encourager and faithful friend. A fun person. A fan of Dick Emery – “Oooh, you are awful, but I do like you!”. A faithful Christian who celebrated 87 years. Her daughter spoke with sadness, and with clarity and confidence at the same time. Her friends gathered in large numbers to bid her “farewell”. Her priests prayed with her and for her. A lover of roses gave each sorrowing friend, by the generous hand of her family, a single rose by which each and all might recall that they had been loved and deeply appreciated. Nunc dimittis in procession. Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Requiescat in pace
