GREAT HEIGHTS ...

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

Cartoon by Dave Walker

I’VE BEEN REVELLING ALL WEEK in having enjoyed a visit last Sunday to our local Roman Catholic Parish Church. Our annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity “Pulpit Swap” led me to the warm heart of a lovely bunch of people. Unity was imperative, the presiding priest told us, except where relations between two well-known football clubs were concerned!

Thank God for those signs in the 21st century Church that encourage me to believe that some Christians are becoming a little less sure of their certainties and a lot more dependent upon the quiet and often unheard and unseen grace of God. Thank God that people like Dave Walker enable us to see the absurdity of our “from-a-great-height-and-right” positions.

“What does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God”

- Micah 6.8

Love the cartoon! [Dave's Cartoon Church blog is well worth the visit too.]
How long before we all realise that 'holy one-upping' brings us all down? Thank goodness for the sanity of latter-day prophets who aren't afraid to help us see us as we are!
